When a cross-disciplinary approach is adopted, Spanish in the United States can not be treated as a circumstance emerged from the outskirts of the Spanish domain. United States is the birthplace of a Spanish dialect, complex in its history, its geography and sociology, which should be valued and respected above judgments about the degree of English influence and beyond the controversy on a hypothetical future in Spanglish.
