Abstract:

The two short stories selected for translation, "El guerrillero" and "Apagá y vámonos," are found in Albalucía Ángel Marulanda's collection of short stories, ¡Oh gloria inmarcesible! (Bogotá: Instituto Colombiano de Cultura, 1979), which brings to life sketches of Colombian life in various regions of the country. The pastiche-like stories critique the corruption, drug trade, and violence which underlie Colombian society, even as the country is advertised as an idyllic vacation spot.
