This is the fifth compilation volume published by the Observatory of the Spanish Language and Hispanic Cultures in the United States, which comprises the translations issued by the center’s Rincón de Traductores/Translators’ Corner on its website throughout the academic year 2023-2024. This compilation includes translations of works from different genres, such as short stories, essays, letters, and excerpts from novels. The authors of the original texts hail from a variety of places: most of them are from Spain (David Jiménez Torres, Javier Marías, and Ana Merino), but also from Latin America and the US: Emiliano Monge (Mexico), Sonia Rivera Valdés (Cuba), Marta Barrio (US & Spain), and Alfonsina Storni (Argentina). This compilation, importantly, features our first translation from Spanish-speaking Africa with César Brandon Ndjocu Davies from Equatorial Guinea. We wish to sincerely encourage future collaborators to help us include new genres, nationalities, and perspectives to our widening list of publications, and would like to extend our thanks once again to all the translators who submitted their work, as well as to those authors and publishers that agreed to share their texts with our readers at the Observatory.
