During the forced confinement of recent months, Spanish author Clara Janés went back to Leonardo da Vinci’s work, studying some of his images as if she were entering them. This was a highly effective way to find shelter against this adverse situation, and she went deeply into said images introducing brief poems into them. Bajo el ala de Leonardo, the book resulting from this exercise —adding to Janés's already extensive body of poetic work—, was originally conceived as a gift, not meant to be available for sale. Only twenty copies of the book —in a Spanish/English bilingual edition— were published and edited by Segundo Santos. Presented here is a selection of those poems but in a slightly revised version and accompanied by some of the original images. —Ana M. Osan, the translator.
