In the current political and social context, marked by uncertainty and fear in Latino neighborhoods across the United States, community activism emerges not only as a form of resistance, but as a vital space for the preservation of dignity and cultures. This talk with representatives of support groups from the Latino community in Somerville explores how local solidarity networks and grassroots organizing embody a form of cultural resistance deeply rooted in our communities. We will analyze how the Hispanic community navigates the tension between vulnerability and resistance, between everyday care and collective defense, building resilience through language, trust, and community action. An urgent reflection on how Hispanic cultures in the United States express themselves not only through words, art, film, or music, but also through gestures of protection and actions of neighborhood engagement.
