Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Real Colegio Complutense at Harvard University (26 Trowbridge St., Cambridge, MA)

This event will be held in person and conducted in Spanish.

As a collaborating institution, we are pleased to announce the event “Factualidad y familias textuales en los relatos de viaje españoles contemporáneos (Siglos XIX y XX),” organized in collaboration with the Real Colegio Complutense at Harvard University, and Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.

Luis Alburquerque García, Research Professor at the CSIC (Spanish National Research Council), and Ángel Pérez Martínez, Tenured Scientist at the CSIC, will present an international project funded by the Spanish government, with a duration of four years (2025-2028).

This project's primary contribution is a novel framework for defining the travel narrative genre, building upon prior theoretical work from our CSIC research group. A key component of this effort is the classification of over 1,000 identified works. These texts have been compiled into a specialized corpus, which now populates a database where their contents are being systematically uploaded and analyzed.

Organizing these works into textual families will make this material more accessible to scholars. Much of it remains unknown or understudied simply because it has lacked a coherent classification system.
