Cervantes at Harvard

The Observatorio provides annual funding for research projects at Harvard University. The projects must be carried out or led by Harvard faculty members and must be related to the core interests of the Observatorio. The Observatorio's intent in supporting these research projects is to contribute to the linguistic, social, political and cultural analysis of the Spanish language or Hispanic and Latino communities in the United States. Each year two types of grants are awarded:

-Observatorio Research Grants: Annual funds for Harvard faculty and graduate students.

-Observatorio’s Young Scholars’ Publishing Grant: Funding for graduate students at Harvard University to be used towards any costs related to the publication of their research (copyright, translation fees, editorial expenses, etc.).

Additionally, the Observatorio co-sponsors Research Awards, Latinx Studies Working Group, and other activities related to Latinx studies or topics organized by the Committee of Ethnicity, Migration, Rights (EMR) at Harvard. The Committee focuses on a variety of areas that include ethnicity, indigenism, migration, and human rights studies, as well as Asian-American, Muslim, and Native American studies. It also offers two undegraduate programs: one in EMR and another in Latinx Studies.
