How does the concept of competencies relate to teachers? What are the competencies that teachers need to develop? How can you become more competent as a teacher? What are the roles of the teacher in the 21st century? What competencies do teachers need to fulfill these roles? Instituto Cervantes' Deputy Academic Director, Richard Bueno, proposes these questions and identifies some of the main roles included: Engaging students in their own learning process, providing quality teaching, promoting teamwork, … Richard Bueno makes a list of and proposes a discussion about the core competencies that every trained teacher should have. This workshop will focus also on different aspects that foreign language teachers should master to become fully aware of the language learning/teaching process, including, assessment and certification, teacher training, online teaching.
