Noel Valis (Yale University), a major American critic of Spanish literature and Anna Caballé (Barcelona University), a scholar of women’s writing, the diary, and the memoir will consider a series of autobiographical essays by some of America’s leading Hispanists. The conversation –about remembered moments of first contact with other authors and cultures– will be moderated by Christopher Maurer (Boston University). Anna Caballé is the co-editor, with Randolph Pope of ¿Por qué España? Memorias del hispanismo en EE. UU. (Galaxia Gutenberg), to which Noel Valis –a writer of memoir– was a contributor.
