Cervantes at Harvard

Language certification proposals in Spanish have mushroomed worldwide over the last three decades. While a few modern languages seem to be far ahead as far as certification goes, others are barely taking their first steps into the certification world. Spanish language certification creators and developers are doing a great job handling all the different variables: integrating language varieties in the process, using good practices, maintaining quality standards and establishing its own set of common standards for exam creators and developers. Stimuli and challenges are to be found along the way and this proves a great opportunity to set forth some of the most relevant ones. Richard Bueno Hudson is the Academic Director of the Instituto Cervantes (2015), he is a Civil Servant of the Spanish Government (he ranked first in the National Public Competitive Exams) and is a tenured teacher of the Official School of Languages Corps.
